It has taken me a while to share this online condolence because I didn't know where to start. But what I really would like to express is this. Aunt Mary was, by far, one of the sweetest ladies I have encountered in my life. She never had anything but good to say about everyone she knew and she always treated me with so much love and caring. I had the opportunity to see her a couple of years ago and I have a picture of her, my dad, John and myself that I will always cherish. Rest in peace, Aunt Mary. I find it comforting to know that you are once again reunited with Jesus and with the love of your life, Uncle Bill. I bet he was so happy to see you!

So deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Mrs Maurer. Mary was a very dear friend and long time girlfriend to my mother, Sara Elizabeth "Betty" Shimrak. My Mom passed away 10 years ago so I am writing this from the memories that my Mom has conveyed to me. They were born in the same year of 1915 and grew up together in Monaca. Mary & my Mom were 2 of 8 of the girlfriends that formed a card club called " The Chum Club." They would meet once a month in one of their homes and contribute their monthly dues to a kitty so that they could have a Christmas party every year. They shared the love of playing cards for a good number of years. Mrs. Maurer was a very sweet lady to everyone and I do remember her very well. She had a wonderful smile and always a great personality. My sincere sympathy to the entire family.

Our last two memories were spending Easter Sunday with Mary on the beach for sunrise service followed by brunch. After that she traveled back home for 98th birthday. We were privileged to be a part of the celebration and have her as a guest in our home for an overnight. SPECIAL says it all when it comes to Mary. I (Joan) spent many an overnight at her home throughout high school and what memories I have. I should ever become the person she was. Loved her so.

We love you Grandma. We miss you so much. You have blessed us with many beautiful memories. Your caring ways and loving touch have made our family what it is today. Even though it is hard to think about not seeing you but all we have to do is close our eyes and you are there.

Mary was like a second mother to me and my heart is broken. I know she is with Bill and my parents now and for that, I am happy for her. I will miss them all for the rest of my life. Tim & Kathy Stump
