Mary (Zagar) Glass, 90, of Monaca, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.Born May 27, 1925, in Logstown (Aliquippa), she was a daughter of the late Anton and Mary (Padavich) Zagar. She grew up and lived in West Aliquippa before moving to Monaca with her husband, Leo, in 1945.Mary was an active parishioner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca, where she was also a charter member and past president of the parish’s Christian Mothers. She was recently recognized as the oldest member of Christian Mothers. Mary was previously employed at J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works; Phoenix Glass in Monaca and St. Joe Minerals in Raccoon Township. She looked forward to her outings with her Wednesday Ladies Card Club, and she never missed an opportunity to gather with her ever-growing family. Most recently, she was happy to be surrounded by 80 members of her family at her 90th birthday celebration.In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Glass, in 1982; and also by her brothers, Lawrence, John, Anthony and William. She is survived by her sisters, Sister Mary Elizabeth Zagar, OSF, of Millvale, and Rose Marie Stucker, Catherine Zagar and Theresa Petures, all of Monaca.Also surviving are her children and their spouses, Patricia (Jan) Yarosz of Kokomo, IN, Rosemary (Joseph) O’Neill of Monaca, Larry (Angela) Glass of Charlotte, NC, Kevin (Brenda) Glass of Haymarket, VA and Dana (Robert) Vaughn of Round Hill, VA.Mary was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
