Matthew J. Vular, 92 of Monaca was reunited with his late wife, Joanne and his late son, Matthew on Friday, June 18, 2021. He had been in declining health for the past year.
A lifelong resident of Monaca, Matt was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Culrick) Vular. As a young man with a passion for baseball, Matt and a group of buddies turned a vacant tract of land adjacent to Ridge Road into a baseball field. As he got older, he took up both playing golf and bowling and was a member of the United Croatian Club’s golf and bowling leagues in New Brighton. Matt was also a member of the Croatian Social and Glee Club Jadran of Aliquippa. An animal lover, he had a soft spot in his heart for dogs and usually had one of his rescued canine companions by his side. Matt provided for his family by working as an electrician at J & L Steel Corp’s Aliquippa works from where he retired.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joanne (Cuch) Vular in 2012, his son Matthew John Vular in 2008, his two brothers, Joseph and William “Vic” Vular, and a sister, Mary Orzechowski.
He will be sadly missed by two granddaughters, Breann Rupik of Aliquippa and Kaitlyn Vular of Providence, Rhode Island, his daughter in law, Kim Vular of Aliquippa, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca followed by a Blessing Service at 1:00 pm with his nephew, Fr. Robert Vular officiating. Private entombment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Township.
