Maureen Ann (O’Keefe) Meade, 67 of Monaca passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Heritage Valley, Beaver due to cancer.
The fifth child born to the late John W. and Margaret (Seery) O’Keefe, Maureen grew up in the O’Keefe family home. She was a graduate of Monaca High School, class of 1972 and worked at Westinghouse Electric, Beaver for a few years while attending Community College of Beaver County. She was a spirited person who was a loyal Pittsburgh sports fan, particularly of the Pittsburgh Pirates. She would faithfully dress on game days in team attire. Her home was also festively decorated inside and out for each and every holiday. She was a member of Mary, Queen of Saints Parish (St John the Baptist Catholic Church), Monaca, and a former member of the American Legion Post #580 and Monaca VFW ladies auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing volleyball and attending Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and playing cards with family and friends.
She leaves her husband of 32 years, William J Meade, Jr. to whom she was united in marriage on September 29, 1990 in St John the Baptist Catholic Church. She also leaves her siblings: John O’Keefe of Brighton Township, Mark (Linda) O’Keefe of Mechanicsburg, Joe (Diana) O’Keefe of Patterson Township, Barry O’Keefe of Brighton Township, Rosemary (Mark) Guthrie and Eileen O’Keefe (David Pasquale), all of New Brighton. Numerous nieces and nephews including Leslie Newlin of Erie with whom she had a special bond.
In addition to her parents, Maureen was preceded in death by her older brother, Neil T. O’Keefe.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 27th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, (724 728 4000) where prayers will be offered on Thursday, July 28th at 9:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 am in St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Maureen was a pet lover and a pet mom of two kitties. Her family has suggested rather than flowers, memorial contributions be given in her memory to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA. 15001 (724 775 5801).
