On September 3, 2012, we awoke to find that sometime during the night, while you slept peacefully; the angles came to take you home just three days shy of your sixteenth birthday. Despite our shock and profound loss of your unexpected passing, we are at peace for there was a beautiful smile on your face and we know that God has you safely in His loving arms.
Our beautiful daughter had a gentle smile that could melt the hearts of those around her and though she never spoke a word, her voice and thoughts could always be heard. Missy possessed strength, perseverance and ability to overcome incredible physical challenges. Her courage led us to believe that each day was a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories?not a day went by that she didn?t leave a profound mark on our lives by her ability to laugh and find joy in the moments of life that we all miss?like the feel of a bumpy road beneath her wheelchair (which would make her giggle beyond belief) or the cool richness of ice cream on her tongue (one of her most favorite things in the world to eat), or the silliness and joy of the Disney Channel especially ?Good Luck Charlie? that she watched over and over again. Missy?s days were spent surround by her family and friends who were touched in some small way throughout her short but very memorable life.
Melissa is survived by her loving parents, Jim and Patty Michele , her beloved sister, Rachael Mansueti, of Monaca, her devoted grandmothers, Katheryn Alberti of Monaca and Anna Hall of New Brighton. She also leaves behind many aunts and uncles including Amy Heinl, Laura Alberti, Kyle and Kim King, Robert and Sharon Michele, David and Crystal Michele, Steven and Laurel Michele, Mike and Maryann Coursey and numerous cousins; all of whom treasured her dearly. She was preceded in death by her brother, Zachary Michele, her grandfather, Robert Alberti and her aunt, Annette Michele.
Melissa leaves behind many wonderful caregivers that provided love and support that enhanced the quality of her life. Our love extends to her wonderful caregivers, especially Miss Dee and to all the nurses and caregivers who helped take care of Missy during the past 16 years. There is a special place in our hearts for Dr. Barbara Negrini and the staff at Tri State Pediatrics (Sewickley Office) for their continual dedication and support to Missy?s care. Missy will be dearly missed by Sally Rae and Sal Schlieper and the entire DT Watson team who provided her with great love and dignity throughout her life and it is with our profound gratitude that we thank them for their compassionate care.
Friends will be received Wednesday, September 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, Monaca, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. led by family friend, the Reverend Barbi Davis.
The family notes that donations may be made to the funeral home to offset burial expenses.
\”Our dearest Missy, we will love and miss you always and hope that we
are able to leave just a sliver of the mark that you left on the lives you touched!?
