Melvin Rock, age 68, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospice of Heritage Valley Beaver.Born June 17, 1947, he was the youngest of thirteen children born to the late Joseph and Laura (Steinbaugh) Rock. He was raised in Aliquippa, and graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1965. He had a lifelong love of country and bluegrass music and was a member of a band, the Freedom Express, in the 1970s and 1980’s. He as a steelworker by trade and worked for nearly 20 years at J&L Specialty Steel in Aliquippa. He was later employed at Anchor Hocking in Monaca and Col-Fin Specialty Steel in Fallston.He will be deeply missed by his three children, Joseph (Jennifer) Rock of Newnan, GA, Michael Rock of Aliquippa and Michelle (Rich) Trevelline of Chippewa Township; five grandsons, Anthony, Alex and Andrew Rock, Brad Coleman and Zachary Jukes; a granddaughter, Kate Trevelline; a great-grandson, Carson Rock; a brother, Richard Rock of Monaca and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.He is also survived by loyal and devoted friends who assisted in his care during his illness, Bob Evanko, Chuck Miller and Larry Budd, all of Moon Township.The family would like to thank Peggy, Cassie and Gail of Good Samaritan Hospice for the attentive care given to their father.In honor of his wishes, there will be no public visitation. Services will be private.
