Michael Maier, 74, of Brighton Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, February 16, 2016, at Providence Care Center, Beaver Falls.Born January 4, 1942, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Adolph Jr. and Alberta (Heck) Maier. An avid football and basketball player at Monaca High School, Michael graduated in 1960. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. A member of Construction & General Laborers Union Local 833 in New Brighton, he simultaneously was employed as a welding professor at Community College of Beaver County. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca-Center Lodge #791 F&AM, a 32° Mason at New Castle Consistory and the Syria Shrine. A loyal family man, he enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Michael also held memberships in the Ambridge Sportsmen’s Club, Baden VFW and American Legion, Monaca Turners and the Fort McIntosh Club in Beaver.He leaves his wife, Donna Marie and a daughter, Susanne Maier, both of Brighton Township; three sisters, Mary (Glen) Parrish of Hanover Township, Tricia (Mike) Tomasko of Chippewa Township and Carole Hunter of Aliquippa; a sister-in-law, Deborah Brough of Bellevue and many nieces and nephews.Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. until the time of a blessing service at 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue.Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Family of Michael Maier, c/o Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061, or Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
