Michael “Mickey” Rowan, 71, passed away on January 21, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anne Rowan, and his son, Christian Nichol. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Ilene Rowan, sons, Michael Rowan, Jr., Robert Colwell, Neil Colwell, brother Ed (the late Anne) Rowan, sisters-in-law, Donna Hudson, Jeanne (Ed) Smith, Emily Brenneman, brothers-in-law, Don (Debbie) Brenneman, Bob Brenneman, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A lifelong resident of Monaca, Mickey was a proud graduate of Monaca, High School (’67), and a Pittsburgh steel worker through and through. He was an enthusiastic member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca and lent his gifted singing voice to the choir for many years. He was a faithful member of the Monaca Wolves Club as well as the Monaca Turners. Mickey loved sports and was a devoted fan of the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved the beach, music from the ‘50s and ‘60s, and his Irish heritage, traveling there years ago to fulfill a lifetime dream of visiting his ancestral homeland. A visitation is scheduled at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 WASHINGTON AVE, MONACA on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, followed by a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickey’s name to St. Vincent de Paul, c/o St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1409 Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.
