Michael (Skilly) Skiles, 67, of Monaca passed away June 30th, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Throughout his journey with cancer, he never gave up and continued to fight until the very end.
A lifelong resident of Monaca, he was the son of the late Earl Skiles and the late Florence Mosholder. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dan Schofield and a sister Sandra.
Michael was a graduate of Monaca High School where he was known for being a fun and loving guy and a friend to all. He also loved and excelled in the game of football. He worked at Valspar Corporation for 26 years and retired in 2014. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and was a member of several clubs in Monaca. For years, he coached his daughter’s softball teams and went on to coach his granddaughters’ T-ball team. Michael was a devoted husband, father, pappy and friend and will be missed by many.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years and high school sweetheart, Tammy Skiles of Monaca, two daughters Stephanie (L.B.) Smith (Monaca) and Samantha (Danny) DeDominicis (Chippewa), a step father, Loren Mosholder, and a sister Nancy. He is also survived by three little girls that lit up his entire world, Lexi and Brinley DeDominicis and Scarlett Smith.
In the last few months of his life, he was surrounded by his granddaughters. He never missed a game, birthday, or special event that celebrated his pride and joys. He truly was the best Pappy around and will continue to cheer on and watch over his girls.
Friends will be received on Friday July 2, 2021 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm followed by a brief service with Pastor Angela at Simpson Funeral and Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca PA 15061.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations be made to your local youth sports programs to help support and encourage young girls and boys to never give up on the game.

I only new Skilly when we were teenagers full of vim and vigger but after watching his memorial video I do wish I could have spent time with him as he aged. I too have learned much with aging and like him dearly love my grandkids. I will never forget Skilly for his drive, friendship, and fun and it looks like he ended his life the same way he lived it. My deepest condolences to you Tammy and your whole family. Mike was a great guy and fun to be around as you know. I say that without having a seen Skilly in probably the last 40 years. He was knocked out (concussion) in the memorable game with Rochester. We brought the ambulance onto the field to take him away. As he regained some awareness, 2 Rochester players attempted to hit him again. We kept them away and he was taken away for medical care. I always knew he would have done the same for anyone on our team. The story you shared in the obituary of his commitment to family was not surprising. Rest from your fight Mike! Gods speed.
