Michael Wayne Caplinger, 61 of Monaca, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.Born on January 28, 1958 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Kenneth Reed and Beatrice Belle (Howells) Caplinger.  Michael strived to be a loving husband, dad and grandad and to dedicate his life to God.  He was a long time member of the United Steelworkers Union.   One of his favorite pastimes was golfing.Michael will be sadly missed by his wife, Penny Lee (Sack) Caplinger, his son Jon (Emily) Caplinger, his daughter April (Caplinger) Gallagher, five grandchildren; Erica, Feliciano, Aron, Alex and Christopher, four brothers: Kenneth (Sherry) Caplinger, Bill Caplinger (Bev Crowl), Tim (Terry) Caplinger, and Jeffrey (Sylvia) Caplinger, and two sisters; Lori (Robert) Leeds, and Sherry Murphy, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial gathering will be held at the Church of New Beginnings, 899 Jackson Avenue, Monaca on Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with the Reverend Adam Johnson officiating.Memorial contributions in Michael’s memory may be made to the Church of New Beginnings c/o the family.Arrangements were entrusted to Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com

Penny and the family of Mike Caplinger. You have my sincerest condolences on Mike's passing. I never had the opportunity to meet any of Mike's family. However, I had the pleasure of Mike's company on several golf outings to South Carolina. In fact, Mike, Don Cox, Norm Cox and I were the first four golfers to start an annual spring trip starting in the late 1990's. Spending time with Mike on these trips was always a joy and Mike was always wonderful to be around.I am very pleased to know that he was a believer and dedicated his life to God.
