Miriam Temchulla, formerly of Monaca, passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, surrounded by family and friends on October 13, 2017. Born July 9, 1931 in Mechanicsburg, PA, she was the last surviving child of the late Raymond and Clara (Soodsma) Feenstra. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stephen Temchulla; by two infant siblings; four sisters, Esther, Julianna, Annie Etta and Frances; four brothers, James, Raymond, Richard and Eben; her dear sister-in-law, Theresa Feenstra; and son-in-law, David Hinda. Mrs. Temchulla was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Her faith was very important to her and she joined Catholic Daughters of America at a very young age and then became a long-time, active member of Christian Mothers. She chaired and helped with the church flea market for many years as well as numerous other events that supported the Church. Mrs. Temchulla was dedicated to her immediate family and extended families. She was a nanny for over 20 years to several local families includingthe Rich Family of Moon Township and the Reader Family of Beaver. She loved and nurtured their children as if they were her own. Her active life included gardening, square dancing, and playing cards with a wide circle of friends. Mrs. Temchulla spent the last year of her life in Florida. She made numerous friends in her new community where her optimism and sense of humor kept everyone laughing. She enjoyed playing bingo and dining out at places where she could watch the Gulf of Mexico. Mrs. Temchulla is survived by her children and their spouses, Kathleen (Dennis) Edge of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; Rosina (Roger) Lorenz of Plano, Texas; Louis (Janette Mathis) Rivetti of Snohomish, Washington; Barbara Temchulla and David Temchulla both of Coraopolis. Her surviving family also includes two granddaughters, Carianne Lorenz of Plano, Texas and Monica Hinda of Morgantown, West Virginia; three great grandchildren, Blair Rose, Chloe Grace and Daphne Leann Lorenz all of Plano, Texas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are being received at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA on Wednesday, October 25th from 2-4 pm and from 5-7 pm where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 am followed by a Requiem Mass at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 15th and Pennsylvania Avenue, Monaca, PA. A rosary will be recited by the St. John the Baptist Christian Mothers’ Wednesday evening at the funeral home.Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the mass at the Monsignor Farri Hall, 15th and Virginia Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.Entombment will take place at 1PM at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 2186 Brodhead Road, Hopewell Twp., PA 15001. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a charitable donation in Miriam’s remembrance to your favorite charity or organization.
