Nancy S. Chamberlain, 71 of Rochester, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2023 at her home. She was tenderly cared for by two special daughter-in-laws during her last hours and held closely by two cherished sons during her final moments while surrounded by family and friends.
Born and raised in Aliquippa, Nancy was the daughter of the late James A. and Helen Harlow and was preceded in death by her sisters, Jean Knopp and Kathy Hutton. She is survived by her five children: Robert (Karla) Chamberlain of Aliquippa, Laura (Harvey) Holbrooks in Ohio, Ron Chamberlain (Christine) of Scotdale, Heather (Glen) Blue in Ohio, and Charles Michael Chamberlain of New Brighton. She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind three siblings: William Harlow, Mary Peck, and Margaret Hannah, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A special mention goes to her loyal Chihuahua, Elvis, who was her constant companion.
Nancy lived the majority of her life in Freedom and was a retiree of the Freedom Area School District. Beyond her work, Nancy was an enthusiastic bowler and was actively involved in several mixed leagues, including the ‘Good Times’ League.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Nancy’s neighbor, Paula Barber, who devoted numerous hours to assisting with Nancy’s care. The kindness and friendship Paula and her family showed Nancy during her time of need was a testament to community spirit.
A private graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Freedom.
