Norman Ray Warnick, 78, of Center Township, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday night, June 18, 2014.He was a son of the late John Ernest and Frances Jane (Leatherman) Warnick. Born May 8, 1936, and raised in Lonaconing, Md., Norman proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon returning home he moved to the Beaver County area in 1956, settling in Aliquippa. In 1963, he and his wife, Leola Mae, moved to their present location in Center Township. Norman found employment with J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works, working in the blooming mill and retiring after 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he spent 14 years with Ogden Allied Co. at the airport. Norman was a member of American Legion Post 580 in Monaca.In addition to his parents Norman was preceded in death by his wife, Leola Mae (Schell) on June 9, 1995; a son, Norman R. ‘Sheep’ Warnick, Jr. in 1982; two sisters, Carolyn Broadwater and Virginia ‘Sis’ Warnick and a brother, Harold Leatherman.He leaves three sons, John E. Warnick and his wife, Vicki, Gary L. Warnick and his wife, Tamara L., and Tom E. Warnick and his wife, Pam; six grandchildren, Amanda Ray Warnick, Rachael Marie Warnick, Ed Hutcheson, Ross Halstead, Jennifer Beatty and Christopher Warnick; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Warnick and three sisters, Edith (Boots) Muir, Wanetta (Jim) McGregor and Eleanor Muir.A private family viewing was held at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca followed by immediate interment at Beaver Cemetery.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
