Orphie Jean Winkle, 88, of Monaca, went to heaven on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Her passing occurred at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.Born December 23, 1925, in Freedom, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophronia (Steele) Peasner. She was a graduate of Rochester High School. Orphie Jean was united in marriage on November 27, 1944, to Edward M. Winkle who had just returned home from the war. Since 1955 they made their home on Kermiet Drive before she moved to Elmcroft of Chippewa in 2013. She was a member of Van Kirk Lutheran Church, Center Township.She leaves two daughters, Enola Gay Cook and Cynthia Jean Higgins and her husband, Stephen; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Edward Cook and his wife, Tammy, and their children, Jason Jeffrey Cook and Cameron Belle Cook, Brian Christopher Cook and his wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Sophia Marie Cook, Gregory Alan Hersperger and Jocelyn Renee Bogden.In addition to parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, on December 21, 2009; a son-in-law, Dennis P. Cook, and five siblings, Edythe Langnecker, Margaret Kline, Josephine Shee, Joseph Peasner, Jr. and Marshall Peasner.Friends will be received Thursday, May 1st, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m., with her pastor, Rev. A. Patrice Weirick, will officiate.
