Peter J. Schuster, 99, formerly of Monaca was called Home on Monday morning, May 30, 2016. His passing occurred at the Passavant Retirement Community, Zelienople.Born on December 29, 1916 in Monaca, he was a son of Austrian-Hungarian immigrants, Peter and Katherine (Theil) Schuster. Following graduation from Monaca High School, Peter attended the University of Pittsburgh. He then proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, as a chief petty officer during World War II and later in the National Naval Reserve during the Korean Conflict. In 1972, he retired as a supervisor from the Pittsburgh U S. Postal Service. Mr. Schuster currently held the distinction of being the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer’s, (Monaca) oldest member.In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by three sisters, Sophia and infant Katherine Schuster and Ann (Ralph) Reich. He was also preceded by a great nephew, Adam Obsenica.Mr. Schuster leaves two nieces: Karen (Rod) Obsenica of Hopewell Township and Barbara (James) Zeller of Scottsdale, Arizona. A nephew, R. Wayne (Carol) Reich of Greensboro, N.C. Seven great nephews, one great niece and a longtime family friend, Carol Crudden of Monaca.Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 1st from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. His pastor, the Reverend Robert W. Strobel, will officiate.
