Peter Zaperach, 90 of Center Township, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018.Born June 5, 1927 in Moundsville, West Virginia, he was a son of Paul and Anna Zaperach. Pete’s family moved to Monaca in 1940 where Pete attended school, He was a graduate of Monaca High School, class of 1945. In 1950, Pete entered the U S Army and served two years during the Korean War. He was employed at Valvoline Oil Co from 1947 until his retirement in 1989. Pete was a member of Holy Ghost Russian Orthodox Church, Ambridge and the Oil and Atomic Union serving as their president for two terms.He leaves two brothers, Charles Zaperach of Center Township and Paul Zaperach of Salinsville, Ohio and a brother in law, Robert Bickerton of Center Township. Several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Bickerton, Mildred Slie and Julia Zoppelt. Four brothers, John, Andrew, Anthony and Frank Zaperach.Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a blessing service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am with his pastor, the Very Reverend Father William Evansky, officiating.
