God must have needed another hero in Heaven because he called ours home February 6, 2018. Phillip Fossett was born January 31, 1928 in Aliquippa to the late Catherine and Roy Fossett. He moved to Monaca in 1936, where he resided for the rest of his days. He worked for many years at Arco Polymer and later at Chemlink. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served during World War II on the USS Missouri and USS Columbus. A true patriot, he could be seen proudly carrying the American Flag from 1952-2016 in the Veterans Day and Memorial Day parades. He was Past Commander and lifetime member of Monaca American Legion Post 580, where he ran the bingo for several years. He was also a lifetime member of Beaver Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Monaca VFW and the National Rifle Association.In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia Keefe Fossett, brothers Richard & Winston Fossett, sister, Geanne Fossett, and brother-in-law, John “Jack” Keefe.Known by many as their hero and patriarch, Phillip is survived by his loving family, daughter, Kathy (Dan) Kelly and son, PJ (Monica) Fossett. Also surviving are his grandchildren Dayna (George) Nichol, Danny (Lauri) Colville, Shayla Colville, Shawn Fossett, Zach (Alyssa) Fossett, Dustin Hughes and Shawna Hughes. He will be missed dearly by his great grandchildren, Taylor Nichol, Phillip Nichol, George Nichol Jr., Breannan Colville, and Kaden Colville. He also leaves behind sister-in-laws, Bobbi Fossett and Mary Lou Keefe. Also surviving are nephews, Richie (Tiffany) Fossett, Stacy Fossett, Shawn (Lisa) Keefe, and nieces, Sheila (Rick) Bashor, Sandy (Al) Kelley and their children. He will be missed dearly by his many close friends.Friends will be received on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Funeral services will be held on Friday with full Military honors accorded at 10:00 am by the Beaver County Special Unit followed by a service in the First Presbyterian Church, 1301 Indiana Avenue, Monaca. Reverend Beth Wierman will officiate.
