Ralph D. Motter, 82 of Center Township, walked into his eternal reward with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.Born on December 21, 1935 in Clairton, PA, he was the son of the late John W. and Mabel (Pforsich) Motter. Ralph was a man’s man. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, wood worker, mechanic, plumber, electrician, gardener, and more. He was very involved with his churches as groundskeeper, Sunday School superintendent, trustee, song leader, and more over the years before having his leg amputated in 2010. He worked at J & L Steel for more than 30 years.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Sylvia (Douglass) Motter who passed on April 10th of this year (and who he will joyfully be reunited with in the Land of Glory!), two brothers, Winfield and Melvin Motter, a sister Dorothy Champney, one grandson, Alexander McMahon and two great-grandsons, Alexander and Jessie McMahon.“Big Ralph” or just “Pap”, is going to be dearly missed by those he is leaving behind, a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Deborah Motter of Slatington, PA, a daughter, Suzanne Motter of Center Township, and a daughter and son-in-law, Reverend Scott and Nancy McMahon of Rochester, five grandchildren, Wil (Rhonda) McMahon II of New Brighton, Kaitlyn, Douglass and Grace McMahon of Rochester, and Zachary Motter of Slatington, a brother Harry (Donna) Motter of Florida, a sister-in-law, Margaret Robbie of Brighton Township, and numerous nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, there will be no viewing and he will be cremated, with arrangements being handled by Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, MonacaA celebration of his life and love for others will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 6:00 pm at the New Brighton Church of the Nazarene, 423 Penn Avenue, New Brighton with Pastor Donald W. MacNeil and Ralph’s son in law, Reverend Scott W. McMahon, co-officiating. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 6:00 pm prior to the service at the church.The family would like to thank, with great respect, the employees of Mother Teresa Hospice for taking such wonderful care of both Ralph and Sylvia for the last year.
