It is with unbelievable sorrow we announce the passing our father, Ray Jacob Cavender, Sr. 90 on April 7, 2022. Ray passed peacefully surrounded by his family at Villa St. Joseph. Born in Aliquippa, PA he was the son of the late John and Alma (Parsons) Cavender. On October 25, 1952, Ray was joined in marriage to the love of his life Mildred (O’Keefe) Cavender. Ray was a U S Army veteran having served during the Korean conflict. Ray and Millie raised their family of four children in Monaca as Ray worked at Penn Central (Conrail). His other great loves were his family and his beautiful gardens. Originally raising and canning vegetables then changing to growing beautiful flowers.
Ray is survived by a daughter, Linda (Joe) Gregory, Center Township and a son, Ray (Katie) Cavender of Hopewell Township. Grandchildren: Michael (Sarah) Gregory of Peoria, AZ., Diane (Tom) Stewart of Center Township, Shannon (David) Ree of Aurora, CO. and Meghan Cavender of Hopewell Township. A great grandson, Kieran Stewart of Center Township. Ray is also survived by two sisters: Barbara (Clifford) Shrum of Monaca and Frances (James) Morgan, nieces and a nephew..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred and two daughters, Patricia Rae Cavender and Barbara Ann Cavender, two brothers, John (Jack) Cavender and James Cavender and a sister, Catherine (Faith) Ziegler.
Friends will be received on Sunday, April 10th from 4- 8pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a blessing service will be held on Monday at 10am. Interment will take place later at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Monaca.
