Richard L.Schmidt, 86, longtime resident of Monaca, currently living in Beaver, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct 11, 2021. Born Sept 11, 1935 in Rome, NY to the late Fred & Gertrude Schmidt, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 and 1/2 years, Barbara Schmidt, his daughters, Dawn Delucca and Heidi Fesperman and grandson Brian Scarpone.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from USAirways after 33 yrs. He loved a good round of golf, bowling, shooting pool and wood-working. He was a devoted Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Monaca Turners.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory Schmidt (Lauren) and Martin Schmidt and daughter Amy Schmidt-Peters (Scott) and wife, Marjorie Schmidt and her 2 sons, Dan and Jerry Robbins. Grandchildren; Serena, Gregory Jr (Kassi), Ricky, Brandon, Marty Jr. (Ashley), Avery (Austin) , Rylee, Joshua and Katie. Great Grandchildren; Gavin, Brayden, Levi, Noah and Kadence.
Friends will be received on Friday, October 15th from 4 – 7 pm with a blessing service to follow at 7 pm at the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Service, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca,
Father Robert Miller will officiate. Burial will take place in St John the Baptist Cemetery, Monaca.
