Richard T. Myers, 83, of Center Township, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief battle with cancer.
Born September 9, 1929, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Myers and was the last surviving child of 13 siblings.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna Bacha Myers and his oldest son, Ronald James Myers.
Mr. Myers was retired from Pittsburgh Tool Steel in Monaca and then worked at the family business, Myers Service Center in Beaver for 15 years. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. Richard was an avid bowler and golfer and holds the past racing championship at Golden Gate Speedway in Tampa, Florida. He enjoyed working with the family racecar for many years and loved watching NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers and wrestling.
Richard is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Mary Myers of Center Twp., a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Monte Andrews in Brighton Twp., a daughter, Valerie Myers of Center Twp.; grandchildren, Jennifer and Emmett Baker, Jr. of Brighton Twp., Jamie Lee Myers of Portland, Oregon, Jacob Andrews of Brighton Twp., Veronica Myers of Chicago, Illinois, Kevin Myers of Louisville, Kentucky, and Richard Myers of St. Louis, Missouri, and his beloved great-grandchildren, Evan and Annsley Baker of Brighton Twp. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a large extended family, along with his faithful companions, ?Dawg? and ?Beanie?.
Friends will be received Wednesday, October 3, 2012, from 2 p.m. until the time of blessing service at 8 p.m. at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca (724 728-4000).
