Robert C Houston, 85 of Beaver went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May1, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Raised in Aliquippa, Bob was a son of the late Paul and Sue Houston. He attended Aliquippa schools and was a 1957 graduate of Aliquippa High School where he played in the school band.
He was a patriotic individual who entered the U S Army and honorably served his country stationed at the Baumholder, Germany Army Base. He was an avid cyclist, hunter and fisherman who taught his children how to shoot a gun, string up a bow and tie fishing knots. He loved rollercoasters, knew the words to all of the Disney movies that he had taken his children to. Following his retirement from LTV Steel Corp. Aliquippa Works’ Basic Ozygen Funace (BOF), Bob and his wife Barbara moved to Florida. The couple returned to the area in 1994 to be closer to their family. Bob then went to work as a security guard at the UPMC Rochester Mental Health Building .
He was a former longtime member of the Aliquippa Elks, Woodlawn F & AM Masonic Lodge and Syria Shrine.
He leaves his wife, Barbara Hoffer Houston to whom he was united in marriage in 1978. Three children: Robin Belich and Clay (Lisa) Houston, all of Monaca, Leslie (Paul) Reiber of Hopewell Township. A step daughter, Victoria Ciccone. Ten grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and one expected great grandchild. Two brothers, Richard (Kathy) Houston of Beaver and David Houston in Florida. He also leaves two brothers in law, Richard Christy of Hopewell and Joseph Hoffer of Baden.
In addiion to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Christy and Pamela Mancini.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
