Robert “Big O” O’Neal, 81 of Conway passed away peacefully on Monday, December 23, 2019 at his residence.
Born December 9, 1938 in Adah, Fayette County, PA, he was the son of the late James and Artia O’Neal and raised in Humphreys, PA. Bob entered the US Army in 1958 and honorably served his country for 3 years, including a year in Korea. After returning home, he pursued a career as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor and went on to be involved in many major area projects such as the field renovation of Three Rivers Stadium, construction of Interstate 376 (airport to Vanport), and the layout for many regional airport runways. He later went on to form O’Neal Surveying focusing on private land surveys. Known as “Big O” to his family and friends, he was fun-loving guy with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with friends playing golf, bowling and laughing over drinks. He was a life member of the Conway VFW and a member of the former Monaca PNA.
He will be sadly missed by his four daughters; Roberta Cooper of Mead, CO, Diane (David) Westover of South Beaver, Marcy (Joe) Rudolph of Baden, and Leigh (Clint) Keenan of Monaca; by his much loved ten grandchildren, Brittany, Jesse, Olivia, and Christian Cooper, David (Kristy) Westover, and Sarah Westover, Tyler (fiancée, Debbie Lang), Marisa and Trevor Keenan, and Andy Rudolph, two great grandchildren; Oliver Keenan and Samuel Westover, a sister, Lila Bradl, and his beloved cat Beans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Edward “Bud” O’Neal, and a sister Joyce Klingensmith.
Friends will be received on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. A private interment with military honors will be on Saturday at St. Paul’s Reformed Cemetery in Trauger, PA.
