Robert D. Parsons, 87 of Center Township, passed away on Saturday morning, February 22, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Raised in the Aliquippa area, Robert was the son of the late Clarence and Opal (McPherson) Parsons.
He was a US Army Veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and was a retiree of LTV Steel ‘s Aliquippa works 14” Mill. He was a lover of nature, enjoyed working in his garden and was a skilled woodworker. Robert is remembered as a devoted family man with a dry sense of humor.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet L. (Lynch) Parsons, four children; Cindy (Lee) Tews, Cheryl (Bill) Petures, Crystal (David) Johnson, and Robert E. Parsons, four grandchildren; Jennifer (John) Kelly, Jessica (Kevin) Dillon, Christian Johnson, and Lauren Johnson, four great grandchildren; William and Sydney Dillon, and John and Josie Kelly, two siblings; Paul (Becky) Parsons, and Eugene (Elsie) Parsons. He was also survived by his brothers in law: Will (Lori), Bob (Merrienne), Richard, Clifford (Therese) and Calvin (Debbie). His two sisters in law, Barbara and Jill (Mark).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence, Jr. and a sister, Mary June Hanton.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 28th at 1 PM at Van Kirk Lutheran Church, 106 Van Kirk Road, Monaca. Private inurnment with military honors will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care provided to Robert.
