Robert E. Adams

Robert E. Adams, age 90, of Monaca, passed  into glory on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home.  Robert was the son of George and Kathryn Adams and the youngest of six children.  After graduation from Aliquippa High School, Bob served with the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Geneva College.  After 30 years of service, he retired as an engineer from the Aliquippa and Southern Railroad.   He also served as the BLF&E Union General Chairman.  He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Monaca, where he faithfully served for many years as an Elder, and the First United Methodist Church in Aliquippa.  Bob enjoyed hunting, watching old movies, music, travel, and cruises.Surviving are his wife Nancy Adams, whom he married in 1999, his children; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Theodore Cwynar, Savannah, son Robert Adams, Savannah, and son and daughter-in-law John and Amy Adams, Homestead, eight grandchildren; Laurlynn, Timothy, Allyson, Sarah, Robert, Emily, John, and Rachel, one great-grandchild, Jayden; and his beloved sister, Gloria Gray.  He is also survived by his step-children; Tina (Michael) Gentilini, Terry (Rebecca) Bowdler and Larry (Joyce) Bowdler, nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Lois Rae MacDonald Adams and brothers; Ross, Jack, Donald, and Hershel Lynn Adams.A service will be held at 12:15 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 by Pastor Thomas Bonomo at the First United Methodist Church, 2816 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa followed by military honors at 12:45 pm at the church.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service.  Interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the First United Methodist Church.Arrangements are being handled by Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.
