Robert John ?Studda? Wilczek, Sr., 76, of Grand Junction, Colo., formerly of Monaca, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at his residence.
Born February 4, 1936, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Andrew and Josephine (Wisz) Wilczek.
After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict, Robert graduated from Western State Colorado University, Gunnison, Colo. He taught in the South Side and Hopewell school districts and was one of the first football and wrestling coaches at South Side. He returned to Colorado and settled in Grand Junction where he was a teacher in the local high school. After retiring, Robert did substitute teaching and also worked for the Marriott Hotel Chain and Hardee?s Restaurant. Robert enjoyed camping and was a fan of the Colorado Buffaloes Football Team. He also loved the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Julie Goode Wilczek and two sons, Rob and Tim, all of Grand Junction and three brothers, Andrew Wilczek and Chester Wilczek, both of Monaca and Edward Wilczek of Rock Port, Mo.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy (Wilczek) Russin.
Funeral services with military honors were held at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Western Colorado.
