Rodger A. ‘Rock’ Mineard, 74 of Center Township passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the VA (Oakland) Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He grew up in the ‘Bricks’ section of Aliquippa, a son of the late Harold and Mildred (Brewer) Mineard.
A U. S. Army veteran, Rodger honorably his served his country from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War and was currently a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #862. For the majority of his working career, Rodger was employed as a boiler house operator at ARCO Chemical Co. and later Applied Energy Services from where he retired. His favorite pastimes were golfing, hunting, bowling and traveling.
Rodger leaves his wife of 55 years, Nancy L. (Biskup) Mineard to whom he was united in marriage on October 19, 1966 in Columbia, South Carolina. He also leaves three children: Rodger A. Mineard and his wife, Kim, Jeffrey Mineard and Gail Mineard (Kevin). His grandchildren: Alec, who was a tremendous help during Rodger’s illness and to whom the family will be forever grateful, twins Elena and Mikayla, as well as Carson. Step-grandsons Devin, and Brian (Sara) Knox. His great step-grandchildren: Hunter, Brayden and Brooklyn. Three siblings, Gary (Sharon) Mineard, Gloria Landfried and Cheryl Johnson. His canine friends River and Noah.
In addition to parents, Rodger was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold, Clark, and Charles Mineard, Carol Young, Diane Marchione, Janet Schmidt, Judy Malloy, Connie Dalessandri and infant sister, Nancy Mineard.
A private family visitation with military honors was held on Wednesday, February 23rd at Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
