Ronald J. Varavette, 73 of Monaca passed away Friday, August 10, 2012 at home.
Born March 15, 1939 in Midland, he was a son of the late Peter Anthony and Jennie Varavette.
Following graduation in 1957 from Lincoln High School, Midland, Ron entered the military and served in the U S Marine Corps. His working career was with Pittsburgh Tube Co., Monaca from where he retired. Blessed with a ?green thumb?, he could grow practically anything. Ron had previously tended to a 20-by40 foot garden behind his home that produced enough to feed the neighborhood. He currently had a plot as Senior Gardens in Brighton Township.
He was also an avid ?collector?.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra F (Grove) Varavette on Dec. 28, 2008 and a brother, John.
He leaves a daughter, Debbie Varavette of New Brighton and a son, Bob Varavette of Hopewell Township. He also has three daughters and a deceased son from a previous marriage. Also surviving are several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 7 to 9 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca.
The family wishes to thank Senior Gardens and Home Depot for constructing a garden plot for Ron in which now can be used by other disabled senior citizens.
