Roy D. Caplinger, 69, of Center Twp., passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Cranberry Place.
Born February 17, 1943, he was a son of the late Ira L. and Mary Ellen (Klinesmith) Caplinger. Roy was raised in Center Twp. and graduated from Monaca High School, Class of 1962. Roy retired from Life management Consultants of Beaver Falls. A longtime member of Monacrest Free Methodist Church, he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher. Roy was a former member of Center Twp. #2 Fire Dept.
Roy leaves his beloved wife, Kay F.Matthews Caplinger, with whom he shared 42 years of marriage; two daughters, Jill DeWeese and her husband, James, of Center Twp. and Brandy Caplinger Skiles of New Middleton, Ohio; five grandchildren, J. R. DeWeese, Courtney Bartosh, Tyler Caplinger, Joshua Grooms and Sean DeWeese; two brothers, Ira ?Skip? Caplinger and his wife, Shirley, of Center Twp. and Robert Caplinger, and his wife, Beverly, of Vero Beach, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Emmett (Anna Mae) Caplinger of Monaca and Mrs. Kenneth (Beatrice) Caplinger in Fla.; in-laws, Connie Matthews of Monaca, Debra and David Flinner of New Brighton, Roger and Chris Matthews of Monaca., James (deceased) and Lelia Matthews of Center Twp. and Kelly Matthews of Center Twp.; a family friend, Mary Fike of Monaca and lifelong friends, John Caplinger in S. Carolina, James Pratt in Monaca, Skip Crizer of Beaver.
Along with his parents Roy was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Caplinger, Elmer Caplinger, Emmett Caplinger and Kenneth Caplinger, Sr. and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Katheryn Matthews.
Friends will be received Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca. Pastor James DeWeese will officiate, assisted by Rev. Doug Rabe.
