Roy P. “Gus” Baden, 86 of Center Township passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his residence.Born on October 9, 1932 he was a son of the late Joseph and Frances (Pokorny) Baden. Gus was a 1950 graduate of Monaca High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an electrican’s mate on the USS Nereus during the Korean conflict. He loved hunting, fishing, barbershop chorus, gardening, Johnny Cash music, visiting family, a good beer, good friends, and a cigar. Gus was a retiree of B & W Steel Company in Koppel, a lifetime member of the American Legion Monacatootha Post 580 and a member of the North Branch Presbyterian Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Susanne (Salinshick) Baden in 2003. The last of his immediate family, Gus was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Edward “Abe” and Jack Baden and five sisters, Fran, Etta, Lillian, Martha, and Ruth.He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Debbie (Ray) Mitchell, two sons; Bill (Nikki) Baden, and Joseph Baden, his grandchildren; Raymond and Billy Mitchell, and Lucas and Lily Baden.Friends will be received on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am with his pastor, the Reverend Deborah Huffmyer officiating.
