Our beloved mother and grandmother, Ruth R. Cujas Parasida McGovern, 87, of Monaca, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 18, 2013, at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born September 3, 1925, on Ford City, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Louise (Hansotte) Cujas. She was employed at Westinghouse, Beaver, as a tester for 22 years, before retiring in 1988. A member of Monaca VFD #4 Ladies Auxiliary, Ruth also served as a mentor for Adult Literacy at Penn State.
She will be sadly missed by six children, Rosalie McGovern and her husband, Jim, of Columbiana, Ohio, George Parasida, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn, of Buffalo, New York, Sandra Cargill and her husband, Harold, of Houston, Texas, James Parasida and his wife, Debra, of Industry, Patricia Smith and her husband, Robert, of Industry and Kathleen M. Pennington, of Monaca with whom she resided along with a grandson, Charles J. Parasida. She also leaves a sister, Helen Wolfe, of Spartanburg, South Carolina and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where a blessing service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. Fr. Michael Ruffalo will officiate.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Industry.
