Sam Castronovo died June 5, 2015, at his home in Oceanside, CA.He was a graduate of Monaca High School, Geneva College, and University of Pittsburgh. During his youth and college years he worked at C.W. Dalzell’s store then had a career in the United States Navy and later worked for Sears. Sam is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; three daughters; three grandchildren and son-in-law. Also, he leaves behind his sister, Frances (Castronovo) Kelley, as well as sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.A committal service with military honors will be held Monday, June 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Monaca.In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Sam may be made to a favorite charity of the donor’s choice.To share online condolences, get directions and other information, please visit simpsonfuneralhome.com.

To Mary and family. My deepest sympathy to you in the passing of your husband and father, Sam. Ironically, it was on the day of my parent's, Charles and Audrey Dalzell, eighty-sixth wedding anniversary. My dad always had special feelings for Sammy and would often say the he was "the son he never had". As a young boy, Sammy would fill sacks of potatoes at "Dalzell's Clover Farm Store" as his first job. In later years, he and Mary would often visit my parents when they were in the area. I still have the beautiful, crystal bowl which they sent from their European travels as an anniversary gift. May God bless all of you and give you peace with wonderful memories of Sam.
