Sam Treantafellow, 81, of Monaca, passed away Wednesday morning, December 28, 2011, at UPMC Magee Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born May 10, 1930 in Aliquippa, he was a son of Greek immigrants, the late Nicholas and Stella (Kafales) Treantafellow. Known by many as ?Uncle Sam? and ?Side Car Sam? he was the best friend of ?Hobo King?, Fred Liberatore. Together they shared many great adventures. Sam loved to play cards and enjoyed horse racing. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Antoinette (Roberto) Treantafellow; a son, Sam Treantafellow; a grandson, Samuel Treantafellow, two granddaughters Selena George and Alyssa Treantafellow and his cherished great-granddaughter, Makayla Treantafellow. Sam also leaves a sister, Ann Burton, of Gainesville, Fla., a brother, George (Kathleen) Treantafellow and a sister-in-law, Mrs. John (Alicia) Treantafellow, all of Clearwater, Fla., along with several nieces and nephews and his best friend, Fred Liberatore and a special nephew, Joe Kaminsky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Passas, and four brothers, Ted, Gus, Bill and John.
Graveside military services will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
