Samuel J. Catanzarite, Sr., 81, of Monaca passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022, with the comfort of his loving son by his side.
He was the son of the late Louis and Lena (Battaglia) Catanzarite, Monaca. Sam worked for over 30 years as the proprietor of a logistics company in the trucking industry, based in Beaver Falls, PA.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death two years ago by his wife of 60 years, Mimi Catanzarite, whom he fell in love with in the eighth grade; and his beloved son, Samuel J. Catanzarite, Jr. who tragically passed away in February 2000.
He is survived by his devoted son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Catanzarite of Franklin Park; and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Steve) Crown of Robinson Township. The biggest pride and joys in his life were his seven grandchildren: Jack, Sam, Mario, Ava, Nora, Kelsey and Reese. Sam is survived by four brothers and sisters including: Patsy (Rosanna) Catanzarite, Monaca; Virginia Braddick, Cape Coral, FL; Barbara (Nick) Papinchak, Conway, and Louis (Charmaine) Catanzarite, West Homestead.
Sam was a Pittsburgh sports enthusiast, and enjoyed the many football, basketball, and baseball games and tennis matches of his children and grandchildren over the years, and was very proud of their scholastic achievements. He was, by far, their biggest fan, never missing their events. Sam had very fond memories of family vacations to Cedar Point, Myrtle Beach, and to Ocean City, Maryland. Sam was an avid golfer, and fully embraced his golfing family every week at the Blackhawk Golf Course where he was a part of their weekly circuit. He always looked forward to the group’s yearly trips to Conneaut and Myrtle Beach. He will be greatly missed by his golfing buddies and best friends. May thy swing be straight and the ball go far; may the round be blessed with no less than par.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca (724-728-4000) where prayers will be offered on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
