Sandy D. Ciccozzi, 84, of Monaca, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2016, at Good Samaritan Hospice at Heritage Valley Beaver.Born November 20, 1931, in Poggio di roio, Provincia of Abruzzi, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Emilio and Caterina (Palumbo) Sfarra. Sandy was the widow of Joseph Ciccozzi who preceded her in death on April 17, 1995. A devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, Sandy was a member of the parish’s Christian Mothers and the former Catholic Daughters of America. She was recently honored for her 40 plus years of volunteer service with Meals on Wheels. In the past, Sandy was sought after by friends and family who were experiencing bad luck to use her God-given ability to remove the malocchio. In her younger years, she was employed as part of the wait staff at the former Penn Beaver Hotel, Rochester, back at a time when the hotel was considered as the ‘Ritz’ of the valley.She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Melissa Alexander and her husband, Ray, of Steeles Tavern, VA, and Joanne Lembo and her husband, Mario, of Darien, GA; two cherished grandchildren, Dante (Jeanné) Mancini and Amanda (Allen) Hofmann; two sisters, Frances Mongi of Lansford, PA, and Mirella (Joseph) Gazo of Manville, NJ; her best friend of 60 years, Mary Halama; along with two Godsons, David and Michael Halama; two Goddaughters, Rosann Armour and Alisa Cafaro and several nieces and nephews.Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Fr. Michael R.
