Shirley Jean Jena, 82 of Monaca was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Heritage Valley, Beaver. A longtime resident of Monaca, Shirley resided at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph for the past three months.
A daughter of the late Henry and Katherine (Leonhardt) Reuss, Shirley was raised in Potter Twp. and graduated from Monaca High School, Class of 1957. Prior to starting a family, she was employed for several years as a secretary at the Beaver County Home. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and enjoyed watching baseball, particularly the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. “Fuzzy” Jena on April 22, 2007. They were united in marriage on April 11, 1959. Shirley was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Stoops and Alice Frankenstein, a brother, Henry Reuss, and also by several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and a nephew, John Schrum.
She will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Linda Jena and Debra Jena, both of Monaca, several nieces and nephews, including Bill Schrum and his wife Marie and their children, Michael Schrum and Bill (Richele) Schrum, who she thought of as her own. She will also be missed by a great-great niece and great-great nephew, Sadie Jo and AJ Schrum, who brought her so much joy.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 WASHINGTON AVENUE, MONACA where prayers will be offered on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Monaca.
