Stephen Kasely, Jr., 84 of Center Township, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Heritage Valley, Beaver.
Born in East Liverpool, Ohio during the Great Depression, Stephen, Sr. and Erminia (Fantone) Kashi welcomed a baby boy named Stephen, Jr. into her hearts and home. After graduating from Midland High School, Stephen proudly served in the US Army Air Force during the Korean Conflict. While in the military, Stephen earned the rank of sergeant. He later enrolled at Community College of Beaver County where he received an Associate’s degree in 1978. Eager to serve, Stephen became a policeman for Beaver Boro where he spent his entire career. He was invaluable in serving those in the community and after 30 years, he retired as a sergeant.
There was nothing he treasured more than witnessing his family tree blossom which made him feel so proud. He cherished those visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stephen often took these young ones to the police station and for rides in the police car. Stephen also took them to the firing range at Brady’s Run Park and treated them to french fries at Jerry’s Curb Service.
Throughout his life Stephen was an active part of his community. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police where he served as president of Beaver Valley #4 and as a trustee for a time. For years, he was a firearms instructor for the Beaver Valley Police Chiefs Association, an advisor to Boy Scouts Explorer Post # 474, a Beaver County Civil Defense Chief of Security and Intelligence, and a Beaver County Tactical Unit 1st Sergeant of training.
Although his work kept him busy, Stephen enjoyed fishing for carp in the Beaver River and camping at Robinson Campgrounds at Mosquito Lake in Ohio. To relax, he loved watching western movies for hours.
With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together, Stephen and Sylvia Lipnicky Emert Kasely shared 40 years of marriage. His family included his children; Stephen P. Kasely of Florida, Laura Kasely of Bridgewater, Renee McFadden of Williamsburg, VA, Judy (Mark) Snyder of Rochester, George (Paula) Emert of Raccoon Township, and Barbara Emert and her fiancée, David Lisjack of Williamsburg, VA, six grandchildren; Leslie, Andrew, Shannon, Amanda, Kayla, and William, and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Kasely.
There will be a private funeral service for family only and a public memorial service at a later date.
