Thomas H. ‘Dooley’ Zinkham, 85, of Vanport, formerly of Monaca, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2015, at his home. He was watching NFL Sunday football, a passion of his.Raised in the Freedom area, he was a son of the late Harry and Frances (Smith) Zinkham. A graduate of Freedom High School, Tom proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as an electrician for Colonial Steel (Teledyne Vasco) for 38 years before retiring. Learning the trumpet in high school allowed Tom to use that talent during his military time, and he continued to play throughout his life. He enjoyed music, particularly ‘oldies’. A fan of ‘Dancing with the Stars’, he was fortunate to attend two of their touring performances, one in New York and one in Ohio. A sports fanatic, he loved golf, football, basketball and baseball. A life member of the American Legion, Post 580, he was also a member of the former Polish National Alliance, both in Monaca.In addition to his parents Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (DeVaux) Zinkham, on August 2, 1993. They were united in marriage on October 29, 1955.He will be sadly missed by two daughters, Cynthia Willoughby of Cranberry Township and Cathy Zinkham of Fresno CA; three grandsons, twins, Thomas (Julie) Willoughby of Cranberry Township and Aaron (Katherine) Willoughby of Ft. Wayne IN, and Luke Scholar of Fresno, CA; three great-grandchildren, Jonah, James and Claire Willoughby and his longtime faithful companion and friend, Judy, of Santa Monica, CA.Friends will be received Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Rev.
