Thomas S. ?Chick? Nichol, 77, of Monaca, went home to be with the lord, Monday, March 19, 2012, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 27, 1934, in Monaca, he was a son of the late Alex and Mamie Nichol.
He is survived by his wife, Julia (Elmer) of 52 years; his children, Tommy, at home, whom he carried a special place in his heart; Joe (Sherri) Nichol of Chippewa; Lisa (James) Ross of Monaca; Julie (Chuck Hood) Nichol of Monaca and Jeff (Gretchen) Nichol of Monaca; his loving grandchildren, Jimmy Ross, Josh Nichol, Alyssa Nichol, Danny Baldwin, Joseph Ross, Joey Nichol and Kyle Nichol.
He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Melvin Sampson; a sister-in-law, Debbie Elmer; a sister-in-law, June Elmer; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Nichol and Juanita ?Sis? Nichol, all of Monaca and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, James ?Hix? Nichol and Robert ?Pork? Nichol.
Thomas served as a member of the US Army in Korea.
Thomas has owned Chick?s Dutch Bar for 44 years. ?Wham?
Thomas was a member of the Monaca S.O.I., Rochester V.F.W. and Monaca American Legion.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Janice Altenburger will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Monaca.
Military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. at the cemetery.
