Terry, Jimbo and Wendy - I have not lived in the Monaca are for about 10 years now and keep up with things back there through Times Online. I was shocked to read of Howie's passing last July. We were friends and enjoyed so many times in school and playing midget, Jr. high and High School football together. He was a great guy and I have fond memories. I was more shocked to read of Tee's recent passing. Like Howie, Tee was a great guy. Few people know this but it was Tee who gave me my nickname Sugar Bear because my Dad used to give us military style buzz cuts when we were kids and Tee thought I looked like Sugar Bear on the Sugar Crisp cereal box. In fact most people knew me by that name instead of my real name. I will never forget his kindness even when we were in High School. I was the long snapper for awhile and snapped a lazy snap back to the punter who was rushed, had the punt blocked and was hurt on the play. He ended up going to the Emergency room to be checked out. As the lowly sophomore center stood in the locker room crying because the coach had yelled at him for the bad snap and injury to the punter, it was the accomplished senior running back, Tee, who came over and put his arm on the shoulder of that kid and said "It's alright Sugar, he is OK and we all have a bad day." Even later in life I saw him at the counter in the Post Office and he immediately smiled that infectious smile, stuck his hand across the counter and said "Hey Sugar, how you been - long time no see." It was that personality and those characteristics that touched and brightened many lives. Both of your brothers were great guys growing up and became great men as well. I am blessed to have known both Howie and Tee in my lifetime. My thought and prayers are with you and may your memories of them bring a smile to your face when times come upon you when you miss them.
Our prayers are with Tee's family. We all remember Tee playing football for Monaca. There are some players that always remembered in Monaca Sports and Tee is one of them. Everyone enjoyed watching him play - he truly is a great player.
Wendy and family, Mine and Larry's deepest and heartfelt sympathy is with you in the loss of your brother. Tee was always such a sweetheart. Have peace in knowing that he is with Howie and your Mom. Prayers are with you all.
The entire McClain Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Monaca has certainly lost one it's best. T was loved, adored and respected by many, myself included. I have many fond memories of T as others do.We'll think of those moments and it will keep both T and Howie, alive in our hearts.God Bless You All.
My condolences to the McClain siblings. Tom and I had some great times together in our high school years. He was a tough little guy, a great athlete with a great sense of humor. About 45 years ago he said something that I think about nearly once a year and still smile. He sent me a postcard from the beach and all it said was "Tompkins, the sun, the sand, the sea and me..... we're all lookin' good. See ya somewhere Tee Tee boy.
Planning ahead is prudent. Call us now.
I first met Tee as fellow freshmen football players at Juniata College as we both had Western PA roots. We were hall and suite mates for three years as part of a close knit group of 8 guys who formed a lifelong friendship. Tee's vibrant personality was infectious and he was unparalleled in having a good time. He won't be forgotten. My deepest sympathy goes out to the McClain family during this difficult time. May the great memories he left us help fill the void of his passing.
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Tee. May your wonderful memories and the thought that he is now with Howie give you comfort and peace. Patsy and Donna Filippelli.
To the McClain Family.. When I was a freshman at Juniata, Tee was a senior. He made sure I got to meet all the other guys from the Valley and was always willing to give me a ride home from school. I only saw him a few times since then, but he was always happy to see me. My sincere condolences. Jeff Small
Terry, Jimbo, Wendy and your families - I'm so sorry to hear about Tee's passing. I know this must be so hard losing him and Howie. May the love of family and friends comfort and strengthen you in the days ahead.
My deepest condolences to the McClain family for this great loss. I went to school with Tom from eight grade until graduation. I will always remember Tom as a good athlete and someone who was the life of a group of people. My prayers to all of the family.
Terry, Wendy, and Jimbo, we were all very sorry to learn about Tommy. It must really have been quite a shock for you all, especially with your having just lost Howie last summer, and Tommy seeming to have been in good health. Tommy was really a great guy, always pleasant to talk with and showing a great sense of humor. His care for your mom in her later years showed what kind of character he had. Even our mom (“Aunt Margie” to you) was always very impressed with the fact that Tommy took such great care of your mom. Please accept our condolences and know that we are all thinking of you, and you are in our prayers. Your cousins Faith, Denny, Sherry, Jay, and Tim.
My condolences to the entire McClain family for your loss. Tee was a great person and a loyal friend. I was Tee's roommate at Juniata College for our first two years. He was one of our "Thunder Alley" gang...........We were a very tight group of friends. It's difficult to accept the fact that Tee has left us. There are so many great memories of good times with him. He was a character, to say the least. My thoughts and prayers are with you............He will be missed tremendously.
The first time I recall seeing Tee, he was walking onto the ballfield where the Sportsmans club now sits, carrying his glove and bat. He wanted to play in our game but no one wanted to let such a little kid play with us, but then we found out that he could pitch...
Lynda and I would like to give our condolences to the McClain family and let you all know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Tee, as we knew him, was one of our Juniata College "Thunder Alley" gang and will be greatly missed. Tee was always full of life and was a joy to be around. It seems like just yesterday we were all together. Life is too short and it is hard to say goodbye to another one of the old gang.
My condolences to the entire McClain family, especially Jimbo, Terry, and Wendy. You were all so young when Tee went to Juniata College and was one of the real characters of our Thunder Alley gang. Tee always spoke so highly of you and it has been fun watching you grow up to be such a tight knit family. The entire Juniata family will shed tears but will also have many laughs when remembering Tee. Miss you roommate.
I am so very sorry to hear about Tee's passing. From our days at St John's all the way thru high school he knew how to be a friend to others. He will be missed.
