Velma L. Boyer, 84, a longtime resident of Monaca, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013.
Born June 12, 1929, in Monaca, she was a daughter of the late Curtis J. and Catherine P. Gormley. On August 10, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harold G. Boyer, who preceded her in death on March 8, 2008. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother Velma provided a loving home for her family and friends. She was truly loved by all.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Cathy (Jeffrey) Wass of Monaca, Barbara (Ron) Miles of Monaca and Curtis (Rose) Boyer of Independence Twp.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Boyer of Monaca; ten grandchildren, Kim, Mark, Amy, Jeff, Rick, Jamie, Ron, Tara, Tom and Amber; 24 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Homer (Geraldine) Gormley.
In addition to her husband and parents Velma was preceded in death by a son, Harold S. ?Butch? Boyer on September 28, 2008; three sisters, Eileen, Evelyn and Roberta and three brothers, Jim, Robert and Eddie.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
