Walter M. Budacki, 85, of Monaca, passed away Sunday morning, February 7, 2016, at his residence.
Born December 29, 1930, in Monaca, he was a son of the late John and Barbara Budacki. A graduate of Monaca High School, Class of 1948, Walter proudly served in the US Air Force from 1949-1950. Upon his discharge he found employment with J&L Steel, Aliquippa Works, which later became LTV Steel, and retired as a machinist in 1988 with 38 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. An avid fan of Pittsburgh sports, Walter also enjoyed reading historical novels and purchasing the daily New York Times to solve the crossword puzzles. His garden produced a variety of vegetables that were enjoyed by family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by three sisters, Diane (late Donald) McPherson, Catherine Budacki and Rosemary Budacki and a sister-in-law, Marian Budacki, all of Monaca, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Walter was preceded in death by a brother, John Budacki and two sisters, Mary Budacki and Ann Kochanowski and her husband, Charles.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, where parting prayers will be offered Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. Rev. Fr. Michael Ruffalo, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
