Wayne L. Fath, 71, of New Brighton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. While stunned by Wayne’s departure, we find comfort in knowing he passed away at a place where he loved, his hunting camp in Elk County, PA. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Wayne will be dearly missed and long remembered.
Born on December 16, 1947 he was the son of the late George and Betty (John) Fath. He was a member of the first graduating class of the former Center High School. Wayne was inducted into the US Army in 1967 and proudly served his country in Vietnam, working as an aircraft mechanic and a gunner.
After safely returning home, he married Lillian M Bennett and welcomed two sons to their family. Jeff and Tim were Wayne’s pride, he relished in sharing his passions with them as well as supporting each of their endeavors.
Wayne supported his family by first working at J & L Steel, Matthe Oil & Snarey Contracting in Bridgewater and retired from Chappman Properties in Leetsdale as a plant maintenance employee.
Wayne’s passion for hunting and fishing within the area and also in Elk County inspired his long membership with the Sewickley Valley Conservation Association. Wayne was also a member and one of the directors of the Marion Hill Sportsman Club and a member of the Zelienople-Harmony Sportsman Club, as well as the Monaca Center Lodge # 791 F&AM. He enjoyed nothing more than being outside and in the good company of those he loved.
Wayne will be sadly missed by his wife, Lillian M. (Bennett) Fath with whom he would have celebrated a 50 th wedding anniversary in April of 2020, two sons; Jeff (Denise) Fath of New Brighton, and Tim (Jenny) Fath of Ohio, a grandson, Aiden Paul Fath, two brothers in law; John (Beth) Bennett and Dan Bennett both of New Brighton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Good friend Chuck Trimbur who was like a brother and with him at the camp at his time of passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George Fath and his mother in law, Shirley Bennett.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 7:00 pm in the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca, with Pastor Randy Morocco from Victory Christian Center officiating.
