William “Bill” Dietrich, 73, of Beaver Falls went to be with the Lord the morning of December 2, 2019.
He passed away at home.
He was born April 9, 1946 in Rochester Hospital to the late Ann (McComb) and Paul Dietrich.
Bill graduated from Monaca High School in 1965 where he enjoyed playing football and baseball for Monaca Indians. After graduation he went on to play semi-pro football. He was drafted and served in the Army 204 ¼ Master Outfit from 1968-1970 where he spent 13 months in Vietnam. Bill received the rank of Specialist E-4 Honorably discharged and was a Purple Heart Recipient. Bill retired from Moltrup Steel after 36 years and later worked for the Beaver County Times for five years.
Bill was an avid sports fan and spent many years as a referee. He often was seen attending various sports games and supporting the hometown teams. He also loved traveling.
Bill was preceded in death by his lifelong friend of over 35 years, Jean Warga and his faithful black lab, Buddy. Bill leaves behind his sister, Dolores Bowers, his grandson, Adam Bonzo, Bill’s girlfriend Carol Milligan as well as several lifelong friends: Charles “Chase” Thomas, Jim Foley, Joe Casassanta, and Frank Eder. Bill will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of sports, fishing, and his dog Buddy. He was someone his friends and loved ones could always count on and was a genuine person.
A ceremony celebrating his life will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
