William E. Vild, 83 of Freedom passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at his residence.Born on January 1, 1934 in Freedom, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Vild. William was a graduate of Freedom High School, and over the years a graduate of Geneva College and Duquesne University where he earned his master’s degree. He was employed as a teacher and a track and field coach at Freedom Area High School from where he retired. William was a US Army Korean War Veteran and later served in the US Army Reserves as a Master Sergeant for 20 years. Involved in Boy Scouts for 20 years, Bill served as a commissioner, and earned the Silver Beaver Award. Bill was a devout member of the Family Bible Church, New Sewickley Township. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh and belonged to the Over The Hill Gang and the 55 Plus Club.He leaves behind his bride of 64 years, Sylvia Jean Vild, five children, Sheryl Lynn Nance, Michael Bruce Vild, Patti Jo Vladuchick, Kimberly J. Kaufman, and Teri L. McKean; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and two sisters, Marian Burr and Mary Ellen Estep.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Richard Vild.Friends will be received on both Sunday and Monday from 1-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Simpson Funeral & Cremation Services, 1119 Washington Ave, Monaca where services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am with Pastor Ed Bailey officiating.
