William George Godfrey, Sr. 88 of Center Township answered his Heavenly Father’s call at Cambridge Pointe, Brighton Township on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Born in Crafton, Bill was the beloved son of the late George Godfrey and Anna Mae Sippel Godfrey, a loving brother to his departed siblings Anna Mae Boren, Patricia Mike, Edward Godfrey and George Godfrey. He was a devoted husband to his late wives, Mary Ellen Balentine Godfrey and Alyce C. Balentine Godfrey. His love and care extended not only to his biological children, daughter Sharon (Larry) Keller, a son William G. Jr., (Cindy) Godfrey but also to his stepchildren, Jeff (Patty) Cline, late Pam (late Rick) Bolton, Cheryl Rob) Neuman, the late Patti (Mark) Ceryak and John (Noel) Cline. His legacy will continue to thrive through his 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Educated at Robinson High School, Bill had a fruitful career at L.T.V. Steel Corp. Aliquippa works, where he served as a supervising inspector until his retirement.
But his life was not just about work. Bill was a man of deep faith and patriotism. His service in the U S Army during the Korean War was a testament to his love of his country. His faith in God remained unshakeable, and he was a devout member of the Victory Family Church, Cranberry, Pennsylvania.
Friends will be received on Thursday, August 31st from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where services will be held on Friday at 12:30 pm with Reverend Larry Bettencourt, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Beaver County Special Unit at 1:10 pm at the funeral home. Private interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Monaca.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made in Bill’s memory, if desired to Champion Life Church, 3357 Constitution Blvd., Darlington, PA. 16115. ‘In the words of the good book, well done, good and faithful servant. Rest now, Bill in the loving arms our Lord. Your journey here may be ended, but your spirit lives in Heaven and in the hearts of those you’ve touched.
