William O. ‘Bill’ Wiles, 65, of Darlington, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Luann, and beside his ever faithful black lab, Katie, after a long battle with cancer.Born July 9, 1951, in Kittanning, Armstrong Co., he was a son of the late Orval C. and Anna J. Wiles. Bill honorably served his country in the US Navy and served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home he worked as a police officer in Economy Boro and volunteered on their EMT and Fire Department. He then worked at St. Joe Zinc/Horsehead Corp. in Potter Township, working his way up from the furnace plant to being a supervisor in their power plant.Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Luann (Holsinger) Wiles; two sisters and a brothers-in-law, Debbie and David Stroupe and Debbie and Dave Lewandowski; two nieces and two nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Kittanning and Erie areas; many faithful friends and two special ‘adopted’ brothers, Brad Roberts of Leeper, PA and Jim Lewandowski of Beaver Dam, WI.Bill was a proud member of the New Galilee VFW, the Ambridge Lodge #701 F & AM and a 32nd degree Mason in the New Castle Consistory.No visitation will be held per Bill’s wishes.
