William P. “Billy” Gillin, 62 of Center Township passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from complications from an accident a year ago.
Billy was a son of the late Arthur and Peggy Gillin. He was a graduate of Center High School and trained as a machinist at Parkway West Career and Technology Center. He was employed for the past 22 years as a skilled carpenter with Roy F. Johns & Associates and put his talents to work building his own home 23 years ago. He loved the outdoors fishing at Pymatuning, Lake Arthur and Lake Shenango and camping at Tionesta. He was an avid NASCAR, Steelers and Penguins fan and enjoyed watching Jeopardy.
He leaves his beloved wife of 32 years, Christine Calinger Gillin and daughter, Tara (James ) Wheadon of Savannah, GA. Two sisters: Linda (Gary) Hoenig and Donna Jean Gillin. A brother in law, Dieter Carrol. His mother in law, Karen Rambo and father in law, John Calinger. Several nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with his Aunt Mar and Uncle Joey.
In addition to Billy’s parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Sandra (Dave) Samovoski, Patricia Carrol and baby Arthur Gillin.
Friends will be received on Monday, January 23rd from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Avenue, Monaca where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am with his pastor, Reverend Collene Carney, officiating.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors, nurses and all the aides who cared for Billy during the past year.
